The constituent meeting of the International Council for Dates in Riyadh – 2013

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture for agriculture matters Dr. Khaled Bin Mohammed Al-Fuhaid chaired the founding meeting of the International Council for Dates in Riyadh in the presence of representatives of a number of countries producing dates and specialized agricultural organizations.

Al-Fuhaid delivered a speech in which he welcomed the representatives of countries and organizations to expressing his happiness in holding the important meeting aimed at establishing the International Council for Dates in Riyadh.

Dr. Al-Fuhaid pointed to the establishment of this Council in the light of the emergence of global economic blocs, freedom of trade, competition, environmental safety, sustainable development and the eradication of poverty and hunger, and we hope that its establishment under an international umbrella in cooperation with FAO and other relevant organizations will lead to the development and implementation of collective development programs sustainable use of resources, Especially water, contribute to possible rural development, and give the leading role of the private sector in developing dates and enhancing international cooperation in solving common obstacles and problems.The Kingdom attaches great importance to the development of the dates sector in the various production areas of dates in the Kingdom.

The Kingdom give great importance to the establishment of this Council because of its importance in promoting constructive cooperation between the producing countries and the consumer countries for the sustainable and effective development of this sector. At the global and national levels, and to draw a global identity for dates for the benefit of all. The Kingdom reaffirms that it is honored to be the seat of this Council with the desired benefits and positive effects on all. Needless to say, the success of this new Council depends on the keenness of all to activate and sustain it by committing to achieving its objectives and carrying out its tasks and supporting it financially and morally.
